Leadership Profile

Mary Paige Damm

Mary Paige Damm

Leadership Development Advisor

Mary Paige Damm brings her twenty-four years of experience in public education and her deep commitment to relationship-building to the Flippen Group. She struggled as a student growing up and questioned her ability to learn.  But thanks to her high school English teacher, Mr. Suber, she soon realized the only limitations she had were the ones she placed on herself. He was the first person to affirm her in a way that left a lasting impression.

This one teacher inspired her so much that Mary went on to earn her BA degree in English at Clemson University. She followed in Mr. Suber’s footsteps by becoming a high school English teacher in hopes of inspiring other struggling students.

Later Mary earned her Administration degree at Winthrop University. She spent eight years in the classroom before becoming the Director of Knox Street School, a unique expeditionary learning alternative school for students with behavior challenges.  She is currently the principal of E. L. Wright Middle School in Columbia, SC.

Mary is married to Dave, USMC retired and a former high school principal.  They have five children; Ben, Arielle, Mary Shaw, Nick, and Jason. You can find Mary enjoying the outdoors in her spare time. She is an avid kayaker; treasures walking her dogs, and enjoys exercising!
